Week 1 summary
The first time I did any work related to FACTsnet was on Monday prior to the meeting, where I browsed the website to familiarize myself with the organization and its goals and purpose. On Tuesday upon receiving confirmation of being hired, I wrote a proposal for disability and English networks and developed a rough outline for the former. Much of the rest of the day was devoted to preliminary research on disabilities. On Wednesday, I familiarized myself with various FACTsnet processes such as the timetable, expectations for daily blogs, and so on, and continued my disability research. On Thursday I played around with the Blogger interface learning how it worked, started categorizing disabilities, and started reviewing social studies blogs on FACTsnet to prepare for developing the English network. On Friday I read blogs and reports from previous years' FACTsnet employees, and struggled with the categorization problem. Today I developed the first disability blog template and quickly reviewed others' work. It has been a whirlwind week so far, but I have enjoyed the work and interacting with my fellow coworkers and the FACTsnet staff, and am looking forward to many more productive weeks without any more late starts!
