May 8 report

(Apologies for the tardiness!)

Today's meeting was really productive. I'm excited to be working alongside so many other bright, creative people on those networks!

Now that we have a general concept of the disability network, I've started considering the blog structure and how to make it fit within the constraints imposed by the blogging software. I have started searching for information, especially blogs, related to disabilities in education and the ideals and implementation of inclusion policies. Honestly this is still a bit of a struggle for me, as I'm still very unfamiliar with the blogosphere. I'm certain there is good information out there, I just need to figure out how to get it. I have also started to create a list of specific disability pages that I feel would be appropriate to include. Caterogizing those disabilities is proving to be quite a bit more challenging than I anticipated, since there appears to be no universal standard on what constitutes a physical mental, learning or emotional disorder - indeed, many common disabilities could fit under more than one category! I am thinking that a better way of organization will be needed than trying to force everything into one of those four labels. I must not get carried away with the obsession of perfect definitions - after all, the whole goal is to make the blog easily readable and navigable by the end users, not satisfying my own slight OCD!
